Why This Skill Is in Demand

As AI agents become more common, companies need designers who can define when models should call tools, APIs, databases, or workflows. Good tool-use design improves accuracy, safety, and user trust in agentic systems.

AI creates the need for this skill because tool-using systems are a major product direction. Some implementation will be automated, but the architecture and decision logic still require expert human design.

Future Outlook

7+ yearsestimated market relevance

This is likely to become a core specialization within AI product design and applied research. The strongest demand will be in companies building agent platforms, copilots, and workflow automation.
