Why This Skill Is in Demand

Serverless patterns are widely used for event-driven apps, APIs, automation, and integrations, especially in Microsoft-heavy environments. Azure Functions is a common choice for teams modernizing legacy systems without managing full servers.

AI tools make it faster to scaffold serverless code and deployments, increasing overall adoption. At the same time, engineers who understand cloud architecture, reliability, and security will be in stronger demand than those who only write function code.

Future Outlook

10+ yearsestimated market relevance

Usage should expand as organizations keep shifting toward microservices, event-driven architecture, and cost-optimized cloud workloads. It will remain most relevant in Azure-centric enterprise stacks.
