Why This Skill Is in Demand

Employers increasingly expect workers to understand how to use AI tools safely, effectively, and productively across business functions. AI literacy is becoming a baseline requirement for knowledge work, not just a specialized technical skill.

AI directly increases demand for this skill because workers need to know how to prompt, verify, and apply AI outputs. Automation raises the value of people who can supervise AI systems, spot errors, and translate outputs into business decisions.

Future Outlook

15+ yearsestimated market relevance

AI literacy should become more important as organizations standardize AI usage, governance, and workflow integration. It will likely evolve into a core professional competency similar to spreadsheet or internet literacy.
